FAQs
How do I get to Madeline Island?
Madeline Island is a 20 minute ferry ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin. Details on the ferry schedule and rates can be found here.
Should I stay in Bayfield or on Madeline Island?
This depends on what you want to do while in the area, as well as your plans for the day of the wedding. If you’d like to party the night away with us after the reception is over (9PM), then we recommend staying on the island so you can join us at Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. If you’d like to tuck in after the reception, we’d recommend staying at St James hotel. Check out the recommendations page to get an idea of what there is to do in Bayfield as well as Madeline.
What should we wear?
The dress code for our wedding is Island Formal. Sound made up? That’s because it is! We would love our guests to dress up but also be comfortable during the outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour. Think long dresses, breezy suits, jumpsuits, dress vest and pants, etc. in summer colors. We recommend comfortable flat shoes or chunky heels since we will be on grass and walking around.
Can we bring our kids?
We love your kids! But our wedding will be a kid-free event.
The ceremony is at 2 PM - should we eat prior?
We recommend you eat lunch prior to the ceremony. Following the ceremony we will have light bites at cocktail hour and a meal at the reception.
Do you have a registry?
Madeline Island is hard to get to, especially when coming from out of state! Because we’re asking for our guests to travel, your presence is our present. If you do want to give us a gift, we are registered on TheKnot.
